An iCloud Keychain has now been changed. Tanks to iOS 12 version, iOS users can easily autofill usernames as well as passwords in Safari browser and apps. In the apps, the process will be done automatically! Despite the Face ID scan happening on its own, it does not require physically pressing a button either. The same seamless experience will also be available to other third-party password manager users like LastPass and 1Password.
With the new iOS version, there is also a new API, letting third-party providers like 1Password hook into password autofill system. You can fill in your username and password for any site stored the credentials. But you should keep in mind that this feature is just for password autofill. If you manually sign into a new site, you will not be prompted to save the details. You will be able to use up to two password managers at the same time in iOS 12.
There is not any difference in the process, no matter which password manager you are using. In this post, we’ll show you how to use LastPass, but the feature works the same with 1Password as well.

How to Enable Third-Party Password Managers to Work with Autofill Feature
To use this new feature, you first need to ensure that your preferred password manager supports the Autofill feature in iOS 12. LastPass and 1Password have recently been updated to work well with this new Autofill feature. To do so:
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iOS 12 device and tap on Accounts & Passwords -> AutoFill Passwords and toggle the feature on.
Step 2: Now, tap on the LastPass option (or the password manager you’re using) to activate it. LastPass will recommend you to disable iCloud Keychain to get the best experience, but you don’t need to do that. After that, LastPass’s AutoFill integration is already active.
You now just open the LastPass app, sign in your credentials and make sure all your login details are updated. If you don’t see any logins in there, then you can manually add them just by tapping the + button.
How to Autofill Passwords with LastPass or 1Password
Now, let’s see how the autofill feature works in actions.
Step 1: First, you need to open an app or website that you have saved the login details in LastPass (or any password manager you have enabled in Settings).
Step 2: Next, tap on the Username box and you will then see an auto suggestion for the website above the keyboard.
Step 3: In case there is not a suggestion, simply tap on the little key icon and it will open LastPass including a list of all saved login details. All you need is to choose a login from here and it will then be auto-filled in the page.
That’s all! You can use the LastPass or the 1Password app on your iOS 12 device or even your Mac to add login details. If you have any question, let’s know in the comment below.
