Stories feature has become hot trend in recent years among social networks. First introduced in the Snapchat app, the feature quickly gained its popularity among users worldwide, mainly thanks to its ability to share self-destructing videos and photos. Last year, Instagram announced its own version of Stories, allowing users to share multiple photos and videos that represent their day.
In February 2017, WhatsApp followed Instagram’s footsteps to launch a new version of Stories, known as Status. Like Snapchat’s Stories feature, Status allows users to share videos and photos that last up to 24 hours before they are gone for good. If you are a frequent user of WhatsApp Status then at some point you may have wanted to save WhatsApp Status to your iPhone. In fact, WhatsApp doesn’t allow you to save Status shared by one of your contacts to your mobile device natively.
Luckily, if you are jailbroken, you can save your videos and photos from WhatsApp Status to your mobile device. There is a jailbreak tweak called WA Status Save, which lets you save any Status shared by your friends or family in WhatsApp.
In this guide, we will show you how to save WhatsApp Status to your iPhone (jailbreak only). Before we begin, you need a jailbroken iPhone running iOS 8 or newer.
How to save WhatsApp Status to your iPhone (jailbreak only)
Step one: First off, you need to launch Cydia from your home screen and then make sure that the Search bar is selected
Step two: Next up, you simply need to search for a jailbreak tweak called WA Status Save. Once you are done, tap on it (the jailbreak tweak is now priced at $1.99 from the Cydia)
Step three: Hit the purchase button to buy the tweak. Once done, hit the Install button and proceed with tapping on the Confirm button. Once you do that, the tweak will start installing on your device (this process may take several seconds)
Step four: Once you are done, launch WhatsApp from your home screen and then open a Status you want to save to your iPhone
Step five: Hit the Save button located in the top right corner of the screen. Once done, your videos or photos will be saved to your iPhone’s camera roll.
Status is a great addition to WhatsApp, but one major drawback is that everyone who is in your WhatsApp contact list can view your shared videos or photos. Fortunately, WhatsApp adds an option to restrict access to your Status on your iPhone without jailbreak.
How to limit the people who can view your WhatsApp Status
Step one: Head back to your home screen and then open WhatsApp
Step two: Select the Settings tab and then tap on Accounts to proceed
Step three: Once you are done, make sure that you select Privacy before proceed. After that, tap on Status and select your option
