YouTube ranks among the most used video-sharing services out there. Google-owned service serves as a great tool for entertainment on both smartphones and computers. However, there are times when YouTube becomes a cause of annoyance, as it fails to work properly.
A number of iPhone owners have recently reported that they cannot play YouTube videos on their device and even computer. There could be any reason for why the YouTube app won’t work on your device, ranging from issues with internet connection to app crashes.

How to fix YouTube not working issue on your iPhone
Force quit the app and re-launch it on your device
If the YouTube app fails to play videos, try force quitting it on your iPhone. The method used to force quit an app on an iPhone X is slightly different from past iPhone models. You now need to swipe up from the gesture and hold. After that, locate the YouTube app, then tap and hold the app card and hit the red button.
Once you are done, wait for a few seconds and then re-launch it on your iPhone. If the problem still persists, make sure you read on.
Disconnect Wi-Fi network and re-join it
If nothing changes, the next solution is to disconnect Wi-Fi network from your device and then re-join it. To do this, you can follow our steps below.
Step one: First off, launch the Settings app from your home screen and then select Wi-Fi
Step two: Once you are in, hit the “i” button to the right of the Wi-Fi network you wish to disconnect from and then hit the Forget button
Step three: Once you are done, force reboot your iPhone. If you now own a 2017 iPhone, the process may be a little bit confusing.
- Press and release the Volume Up button. After that, press and release the Volume Down button and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo
Step four: When your device finishes booting up, re-connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Disable/ Enable cellular connectivity
If YouTube still fails to play videos on your iPhone, try turning off cellular or mobile data on your device. To do this, head to Settings > Cellular/Mobile data and turn off the switch. After that, reboot your device and then turn on Cellular or Mobile data.
You also turn on Airplane mode and then turn it off to see if the problem is fixed. If you now own an iPhone X, swipe down from the left to open up Control Center, then turn on Airplane mode and then turn it off.
Un-install YouTube and re-install it
To delete the YouTube app from your iPhone, touch and hold on the app until it starts jiggling and then hit the X button. After that, head to the App Store and re-install it.
Once you are done, update your iOS. To do this, head to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
Reset network settings
To reset network settings on your iPhone, head to Settings > General > Reset and hit the Reset Network Settings button. Following this method, all your network settings will go back to its default settings.
