How to edit a video on your iPhone

Apple iPhone serves as a great tool for recording videos. With the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, users now can record 4K videos at 24, 30, or 60FPS. Moreover, Apple also includes a full set of editing tools on its iPhone, allowing users to easily make their videos unique.

Apple built video editing features directly into the Photos app on iOS, meeting users’ basis editing needs like sharing and editing. If you are a newcomer, editing your videos on iPhone may be a little bit confusing. With that in mind, we believe that we can help you out.

In this guide, we will go through the steps to edit videos on your iPhone. Before we begin, make sure you now have a modern version of iOS on your device (iOS 9 or newer).

Before proceeding, make sure you now have a video in your Camera Roll. If not, open the Camera app on your device and record a video.

Step one: First off, launch the Photos app from your home screen and then hit Videos to move to the next step

Step two: Once you are in, locate the video you wish to edit. After that, you simply need to tap on that video and select Edit located in the top right corner of the screen

Step three: Next up, you will see a timeline bar at the bottom of the video, so you just need to drag that bar to move forward and backward throughout the video you wish to edit

Step four: Once you are done, tap and hold arrows at the end of the timeline bar (the bar will turn yellow). After that, you now can remove the parts of the video you don’t want to edit. To do this, just simply drag the either end of the bar

Step five: Hit Trim button and you will be presented with two options, including Trim Original and Save as New Clip. If you choose Save as New Clip, your trimmed video will be saved as a separate video, meaning that your original video remains intact.

Step one: Launch the Photos app on your iPhone and hit Videos

Step two: Once you are in, locate the trimmed video you wish to share and hit the arrow button at the bottom left

Step three: Select your sharing option from the list (AirDrop, Message, Mail, iCloud Photo Sharing, and online video services).
