How to dock, undock, split, and merge keyboard to iPad

If you get used to your new iPad, then you could feel interested in a few tricks with the keyboard. With the new iPad, you will no longer have to keep the keyboard where it shows up and you can easily split in half so that typing is more convenient when holding it. Here is how to undock, split, and merge your iPad keyboard.

How to undock, move, and dock iPad keyboard

By default, the keyboard displays at the bottom of the screen. When typing a text, email, or others, you will notice this. But you can move it anywhere.

1) Launch an app that needs the keyboard.

2) Tap on the Keyboard button on the right keyboard bottom.

3) When you see a small menu, simply slide your finger to Undock.

4) Hold the Keyboard button and move the keyboard to the position you want.

5) Go of the Keyboard button.

If you want to put your keyboard back to the default location, there are two ways for you to do this

Dock iPad keyboard: Method 1

1) Tap and hold the Keyboard button on the right keyboard bottom.

2) When you see the small menu, just slide your finger to Dock.

Dock iPad keyboard: Method 2

1) Simply hold the Keyboard button and move your keyboard back to the bottom.

2) Go of the Keyboard button.

How to split and merge iPad keyboard

If you‘d like to type with your thumbs like you do it on your iPhone, then you can split the keyboard of your iPad. It allows you to type like you used to when holding your iPad and working in landscape and portrait views. To do so:

1) Launch any app that requires the keyboard.

2) Tap and hold the Keyboard button on the right keyboard bottom.

3) When the small menu shows up, just slide your finger to Split.

You will then see the keyboard splitting the keys on both the left and right of the screen. You can hold the Keyboard button to move the keyboard up or down as well. In case you want to remove the split, there are two ways to merge your keyboard.

Merge iPad keyboard: Method 1

1) Simply tap and hold the Keyboard button on the right keyboard bottom.

2) When you see a small menu, simply slide your finger to Merge. Besides, you can also choose Dock and Merge to put it back at the bottom of the screen.

Merge iPad keyboard: Method 2

1) Simply hold & keep the Keyboard button and then move the keyboard back to the bottom.

2) Go of the Keyboard button. It will then both merge and dock your keyboard to its initial spot.
