How to customize Lock screen on your iPhone/iPad

Lock screen has two purposes. Firstly, it provides a quick access to a ton of features like Siri, Control Center, camera and more. Secondly, it prevents unauthorized access to your private contents on your iOS device.

You can also disable many conveniences if you’d like the Lock screen to stay on lockdown. Here’s how you can customize your lock screen!

How to change the wallpaper on lock screen

There are Apple’s default wallpapers for the lock screen, but you can change it from Apple’s gallery, or even a Live Photo if your phone supports 3D Touch. To do so:

  1. Launch Settings app from the Home screen.
  2. Tap on Wallpaper.
  3. Choose a New Wallpaper.
  4. Select the location of the new wallpaper you’d like to choose from
  5. Choose the image you want to use.
  6. Tap on Set >Set Lock Screen if you just want to change the Lock screen wallpaper, or Set Both to change the Home screen wallpaper.

How to set Auto-Lock time

You can switch off the screen on your iOS device at any time. However, it’ll automatically turn off after two minutes to save the battery. But if that time limit doesn’t suit you, you can easily change it.

  1. Open Settings app from the Home screen.
  2. Tap on Display & Brightness >Auto Lock.

How to switch off Control Center on the Lock screen

Control Center allows you to access settings, media controls, and home accessories directly from your Lock screen. But other people can also access all of them easily. So, if it’s a concern, you can make it Control Center not pulled up from your Lock screen.

  2. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode and enter your passcode
  3. Under “Allow Access When Locked” section, toggle the Control Center option.

How to disable Today View on the Lock screen

With Today View feature, you can easily search for content, review calendar events, Siri suggestions, and more. If anything is private and you don’t want them accessible from the Lock screen, you can disable it.

  1. Open Settings app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode and enter Passcode.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and disable Today View.

 How to disable Siri access from the Lock screen

Siri can answer questions and commands directly from the Lock screen. If you’d prefer that Siri is not accessible at all, you can disable off.

  1. Open Settings app from the Home screen.
  2. Tap on Siri & Search section
  3. Turn Suggestions on Lock Screen

How to disable Wallet and Apple Pay from the Lock screen

Wallet on the lock screen can pop up when the time and place is right. Your Apple Pay credit and debit cards are only a double-click of your Home screen away. If either of things isn’t to your favorite, you can disable them.

  1. Open Settings app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap on Touch ID & Passcode and enter Passcode.
  3. Scroll down and toggle Walletto Off.
